A classic method introduced by Ruzicka and Fornasier gives us a perfect linalool. Acetylide ions are used for a nucleophilic attack on methyl heptenone to spawn dehydro-linalool. In the later process, reducing the alkyne linkage with sodium under selective conditions gave linalool.
Esterification Of Linalool
Once linalool undergoes esterification, it gives Linalyl acetate. It is an important part of lavender. Plants form Linalyl acetate by compelling acetyl coenzyme A to act on linalool.
